“Walk by the mirror, look at yourself and say ‘you are it,’ and then move along.”
Peloton instructor Ally Love said this during a recent ride, and it has stuck with me.

Especially the second half: Move along.
Why?
Because it suggests that your awesomeness today is something to register for sure, but not to dwell on or stare at for too long.
It isn’t a destination, or a crown, or an A+.
It isn’t any sort of static “I.”

It isn’t any sort of static “I.”
I’m all for high-fiving ourselves (and each other). But when we treat that moment as the finish line—or a step toward some ideal ‘best self’—we miss something. “Best self” can feel a bit heavy, like something you have to strive for, seriously.
What if, instead, we imagine our next selves? Totally different vibe.
“Next” is full of movement and possibility. The word swings opens the door to creativity, curiosity, and play. There is always a new “next” around the corner not to pursue, but to evolve into. Kind of like an endless game of “What do you want to be when you grow up?” or maybe just—“Who do you want to be when you grow?”
So that mirror moment when you toss yourself a wink and perhaps a whistle? Maybe that puts a little sass in the tank. A beat of appreciation that invites the question, “If I’m all that today...how might I be all that tomorrow? Or next year? Or ten years from now?”
This is the energy we try to cultivate at Urban Pharm—a mix of groundedness and growth, presence and possibility. A playful appreciation of what is, with wide-open space for what might be next. It’s simply more fun than chasing perfection. And honestly? More alive.
Whatever your “next” looks like, we’re here for it.
