This first flavor in our Travel Collection was inspired by Anne’s trip to Melbourne, Australia, where she traveled with her dad to visit some of her favorite family. Part of our Travel Collection, this limited-edition Cherry and Australian Pepperberry shrub is a study in contrast and balance. Juicy cherries lead with bright sweetness; richness and depth, while Australian pepperberries follow with a hint of spice. Together, they create a flavor that is both bold and nuanced, sweet with edge. Equally at home in sparkling water, cocktails, or mocktails.

This first flavor in our Travel Collection was inspired by Anne’s trip to Melbourne, Australia, where she traveled with her dad to visit some of her favorite family. Getting there was an adventure, with cancelled flights and hours spent in LAX, but it was well worth it. One morning, they wandered through Queen Victoria Market, where she first discovered Tasmanian cherries, which are hard to find in America, and Australian pepperberries. She couldn’t stop thinking about how the incredible flavors and spirit of this place would make a delicious shrub. And here we are!

Urban Pharm Shrubs are versatile. Start by adding a shrub splash to sparkling or still water. Make your morning apple cider vinegar dose something to savor rather than throw back. Add a sprig of rosemary for texture. Don’t look now, but you may have a festive mocktail or cocktail on your hands. Shrub up your next marinade or dressing. Play around to your liking.

Each little bottle has about 7 servings, depending on how vinegar-forward you like your beverages to be.

What’s in there and why it is “good for you”

Raw apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is a tried & true health aid. Thanks to acetic acid and loads of friendly bacteria, apple cider vinegar supports digestion, lowers blood sugar, and improves insulin sensitivity.

Raw honey: Honey is sweet and delicious, as well as rich in antioxidants. Although the body processes honey as it does cane sugar (raising blood sugar levels), the composition of honey actually improves blood sugar regulation.

Cherries are rich, juicy, and a little tart. Packed with antioxidants and known for their anti-inflammatory benefits, they bring both depth of flavor and a little functional magic.

Australian pepperberries are a lesser-known spice with a lot of personality. Native to Tasmania, they start with a soft, fruity note and build into a gentle, lingering heat. Naturally rich in antioxidants, they add a wild, adventurous spark.

What is the shelf life?

The shelf life of Urban Pharm Shrub is 12 months, though in fact it is good for longer. After 12 months, the flavors might change and the colors will not be as vibrant.

How long will it last once open?

Urban Pharm shrubs are very stable thanks to that delicious apple cider vinegar. Before opening, they can live in your pantry for at least a year. We recommend refrigerating after opening and enjoying within a year for maximum flavor and color.

Does shrub need to be refrigerated?

Urban Pharm shrubs are shelf stable, which means they do not have to be refrigerated. We do recommend that they go in the fridge after opening to better preserve taste and color.

Does shrub contain alcohol?

No, Urban Pharm Shrub does not contain alcohol.

What are the nutritional details?

Two tablespoons of Urban Pharm Shrub have 20 calories, 5 grams of carbohydrates, and 5 grams of sugar. The sugar is in the form of raw organic honey. Honey is more nutritious and flavorful than cane sugar, as well as less processed. Our shrubs also contain fructose from the fruit.

Does shrub contain caffeine?

No, the ingredients in Urban Pharm shrubs are naturally caffeine-free.

What is the difference between shrub and kombucha?

Urban Pharm Shrub is a drinking vinegar. It is made by combining vinegar and honey with fruits and botanicals. The combination ferments for several days to a week. Shrubs are both tart and sweet. Kombucha is fermented tea. It is made by combining a black or green tea with cane sugar and a SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast). The combination ferments for seven to 10 days. Kombucha is a fizzy caffeinated (and slightly alcoholic) beverage that can be flavored fruits and herbs for flavor.

What are the health benefits of apple cider vinegar?

Apple cider vinegar is a tried-&-true health aid. For thousands of years, it has been used in both the kitchen and the medicine cabinet. Benefits include:

● Digestion improvement (the acidity of the vinegar restores stomach acidity and helps with enzyme release, both of which promote healthy digestion)
