Urban Pharm Shrubs are versatile. Start by adding a shrub splash to sparkling or still water. Make your morning apple cider vinegar dose something to savor rather than throw back. Add a fresh herb garnish to add a little extra. Don’t look now, but you may have a festive mocktail or cocktail on your hands. Shrub up your next marinade or dressing. Play around to your liking.

Each 375ml bottle has about 12 servings, depending on how vinegar-forward you want to be.

What’s in there and why it is “good for you”

Raw apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is a tried & true health aid. Thanks to acetic acid and loads of friendly bacteria, apple cider vinegar supports digestion, lowers blood sugar, and improves insulin sensitivity.

Raw honey: Honey is sweet and delicious, as well as rich in antioxidants. Although the body processes honey as it does cane sugar (raising blood sugar levels), the composition of honey actually improves blood sugar regulation.

Elderberries bring a rich, dark sweetness and an earthy edge. Harvested at the height of the season, they’re prized for their deep flavor and vibrant hue. Naturally high in antioxidants and vitamin C, these small but mighty berries have long been celebrated for their immune-supporting properties.

Sumac is a bright, lemony, almost rust colored berry. It’s naturally high in antioxidants and has been used for centuries for its potential health benefits, including supporting digestion and overall wellness.

Recipes

Roasted Fruit with Elderberry & Sumac Shrub

Ingredients:
❤️ 3 cups mixed fruit (such as plums or pears), cut into bite-size pieces
❤️ 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
❤️ 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, depending on fruit sweetness)
❤️ Pinch of salt
❤️ 2–3 tbsp Urban Pharm Elderberry & Sumac Shrub
❤️ Plain or vanilla yogurt, crème fraîche, or ice cream (for serving)
❤️ Fresh mint and granola, for garnish

Directions:
❤️ Preheat the oven to 400°F.
❤️ Toss the fruit with olive oil, honey (if using), and a pinch of salt. Spread in a pyrex pan or rimmed baking sheet
❤️ Roast for 15–20 minutes, stirring once, until the fruit softens and caramelizes at the edges.
❤️ Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with the Elderberry & Sumac Shrub. The warm fruit will absorb the shrub..
❤️ Serve warm or at room temperature over yogurt, crème fraîche, or ice cream. Finish with a few fresh herbs for brightness and some granola.

What is the shelf life?

The shelf life of Urban Pharm Shrub is 12 months, though in fact it is good for longer. After 12 months, the flavors might change and the colors will not be as vibrant.

How long will it last once open?

Urban Pharm shrubs are very stable thanks to that delicious apple cider vinegar. Before opening, they can live in your pantry for at least a year. We recommend refrigerating after opening and enjoying within a year for maximum flavor and color.

Does shrub need to be refrigerated?

Urban Pharm shrubs are shelf stable, which means they do not have to be refrigerated. We do recommend that they go in the fridge after opening to better preserve taste and color.

Does shrub contain alcohol?

No, Urban Pharm Shrub does not contain alcohol.

What are the nutritional details?

Two tablespoons of Urban Pharm Shrub have 20 calories, 5 grams of carbohydrates, and 5 grams of sugar. The sugar is in the form of raw organic honey. Honey is more nutritious and flavorful than cane sugar, as well as less processed. Our shrubs also contain fructose from the fruit.

Does shrub contain caffeine?

No, the ingredients in Urban Pharm shrubs are naturally caffeine-free.

What is the difference between shrub and kombucha?

Urban Pharm Shrub is a drinking vinegar. It is made by combining vinegar and honey with fruits and botanicals. The combination ferments for several days to a week. Shrubs are both tart and sweet. Kombucha is fermented tea. It is made by combining a black or green tea with cane sugar and a SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast). The combination ferments for seven to 10 days. Kombucha is a fizzy caffeinated (and slightly alcoholic) beverage that can be flavored fruits and herbs for flavor.

What are the health benefits of apple cider vinegar?

Apple cider vinegar is a tried-&-true health aid. For thousands of years, it has been used in both the kitchen and the medicine cabinet. Benefits include:
