Wild Blueberry and Basil Shrub

Our Wild Blueberry and Basil Shrub has deliciously deep and nuanced flavors with an edge of the unexpected. The wild blueberries have a gorgeous intensity, and the sweet basil offers a bit of herbaceous pepper.

Urban Pharm Shrubs are versatile. Start by adding a shrub splash to sparkling or still water. Make your morning apple cider vinegar dose something to savor rather than throw back. Add a sprig of rosemary to add some texture. Don’t look now, but you may have a festive mocktail or cocktail on your hands. Shrub up your next marinade or dressing. Play around to your liking.

Each little bottle has about 7 servings and each big bottle has about 12 servings, depending on how vinegar-forward you want to be.

Wild Blueberry Shrub Marinade
🫐 In a small bowl, whisk together Urban Pharm Wild Blueberry and Basil Shrub (1 tablespoon)
🫐 White wine (½ cup)
🫐 Olive oil (¼ cup)
🫐 Lemon juice (1 tablespoon)
🫐 Fresh chopped herbs, herbs of your choice (3 tablespoons)
🫐 Garlic, 1 clove minced
🫐 Salt & Pepper
Marinate chicken in the marinade in a shallow bowl or plastic bag (8 hours or overnight)

Wild Blueberry Manhattan
🫐 Fill a glass with ice
🫐 Add one jigger (2 ounces) of bourbon (to go rounder and sweeter) or rye (to go straight-edged and assertive)
🫐 Add one jigger (2 ounces) of vermouth
🫐 Add less than half a jigger (1 oz-ish) of Wild Blueberry and Basil Shrub
🫐 Add a few dashes of bitters
🫐 Stir
Stick with the ratio of bourbon to vermouth to shrub to club soda, or mess around with more or less of each to fine-tune to your taste. Add a basil garnish to add some greenery or a few fresh blueberries or blackberries to add visual texture. A pinch of salt or a squeeze of lemon to highlight and complexify flavors.
